
JOB VACANCY: CTFC WOMEN SPORTS THERAPIST / PHYSIOTHERAPIST
Chatham Town Women are pleased to announce a job opportunity for a First Team Sports Therapist/Physiotherapist.
The role will provide the successful candidate with experience in a semi-professional female football setting including plenty of opportunity for continued personal development and support.
To be eligible, you must have a BSc in Physiotherapy or Sports Science and be able to commit to 12-18 hours per week covering evenings and weekends between July 2024 and May 2025. Placements can be extended beyond this. The position is a paid role.
THE ROLE:
As a sports therapist/physiotherapist, you’ll provide an immediate response when sport and exercise-related injuries occur and will rehabilitate the player back to full fitness. You’ll also provide advice and support to help prevent injuries from happening in the first place.
Your work will be based on the principles of sport and exercise science, using physical techniques to help the patient and developing rehabilitation and injury prevention plans.
If injuries or health-related issues go beyond your scope of practice, you’ll refer the patient to an appropriate healthcare professional.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- conduct a fitness-level assessment on people involved in sport and exercise, and advise on exercises prior to an event or fixture
- test joints for ease and range of movement, pain and dysfunction
- mentally and physically prepare sports people before a competition and use strapping, taping and massage techniques where necessary
- provide emergency aid and basic life support in a sport and exercise environment
- examine and assess injuries and determine whether the sport and exercise participant can continue safely with the event or activity
- treat and manage injuries to alleviate pain
- rehabilitate injuries by using manual therapy techniques and exercise
- design and monitor rehabilitation programmes appropriate to the injury and/or sport and level
- decide whether extra treatments are needed and coordinate referrals to other practitioners
- work alone or with coaches, trainers and/or fitness advisers to implement exercise, conditioning, core stability and injury prevention programmes, so that sports people reach and maintain peak performance
- liaise with other healthcare professionals in the sports sector and in mainstream medicine
- Work within a multidisciplinary medical team
ABOUT THE CANDIDATE:
- Professional, organised and polite aspiring coach
- An interest in high performance training, sports science and physiotherapy.
- Must be able to complete tasks at the request of the Lead Sports Therapist and Management Team
- Living a commutable distance from Chatham Town FC
- You must have access to your own mode of transport and your own laptop
- Have some previous experience with, or knowledge of, sports therapy within sports
