CHATHAM TOWN WOMEN: END OF SEASON AWARDS
Chatham Town Women celebrated the end of a fantastic 2022/23 season with an Awards Presentation held at the club’s own Bobby’s Bar.
Seven awards were handed out, including Manager’s Player of the Season and Goal of the Season.
Two players – Amy Haynes and Cara Davies – scooped two awards each during the evening’s festivities.
Defender Amy Haynes picked up this season’s Young Player and Supporter’s Player awards, while goalkeeper Cara Davies received both Manager’s Player and Player’s Player.
Georgia Griffin, who scored during the team’s most recent game against Aylesford Ladies FC in the DFDS Kent Women’s Cup Final, walked away with Sponsor’s Player.
After an online vote, which saw Twitter and Instagram followers pick from nine stellar contenders, Mel Espinosa received Goal of the Season for her blinder against Millwall Lionesses.
The final award of the night was handed out to Vicky Ashton-Jones, who announced her retirement from the game in April.
Vicky received a Special Recognition Award for her contribution to women’s football and her incredible work, both on and off the pitch, on behalf of the team and the club.
As well as a trophy, Vicky was also presented with a shirt and was shown a special tribute video with clips from her final home game at the Bauvill Stadium and goodbye messages from her teammates and loved ones.
You can watch the full tribute video on our socials, as well as some outtakes from the players and our final interview with Vicky after the Kent Women’s Cup Final.
